The Banker “Top 1000 World Banks” 2018

Sberbank has taken first place in The Banker’s 2018 ranking of banks in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). The CEE regional ranking is part of The Banker’s annual “Top 1000 World Banks” ranking. The ranking criteria such as profitability, return on capital or Tier 1 capital are based on the financial reporting for 2017.

Sberbank as Russia’s largest lender has further expanded its lead by increasing its capitalisation by 29.7% compared to the previous period. In the global “Top 1000 World Banks” ranking, Sberbank is now 31st, having improved its position by five ranks compared to last year.

According to The Banker, Russian banks dominate the Central and Eastern Europe rankings, taking the top places for Tier 1 capital and profitability.
